Symbian Expo Keynotes
On Tuesday the Symbian Expo Keynote Sessions will take place from 10.30 - 12.30 and take the form of a moderated panel discussion, with each panellist making a 5-10 minute keynote with introductory comments.

The Keynote sessions will take place in a closed theatre on the show floor, with the session being relayed in the other seminar theatres and on screens throughout the exhibition hall.

Tom Standage: Technology Editor, The Economist
Tom Standage is technology editor at The Economist magazine and the author of three history books, "The Victorian Internet" (1998), "The Neptune File" (2000) and "The Mechanical Turk" (2002), two of which have been serialised as "Book of the Week" on Radio 4. "The Victorian Internet" was made into a Channel 4 documentary, "How The Victorians Wired the World". Tom has previously covered science and technology for a number of newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Wired and Prospect. He is married and lives in Greenwich, London, with his wife and daughter, where he is now working on another book.

David Levin: Chief Executive Officer, Symbian
David Levin became CEO of Symbian on April 8th 2002. He joined Symbian from Psion plc, the handheld computing company, where he was Chief Executive from February 1999. Previously, he spent five years with the international business publishing group Euromoney Institutional Investor, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and before that as President of Institutional Investor. Before that Levin worked for the Venture Capital group Apax Partners and the International Consultancy firm Bain & Company. Levin read PPE at Oxford University (graduating in 1983) and was awarded an MBA from Stanford University in 1987.

Miles Flint: President, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications
Miles Flint was appointed President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications effective 22 June 2004. Prior to this position, Flint was President of European Marketing at Sony Europe, where he was responsible for the marketing activities of Sony's electronics business across Europe. Concurrent with his European role, Flint held the position of Managing Director of Sony United Kingdom Limited, the umbrella company that encompasses all of Sony's electronics operations in the UK.

Flint joined Sony in January 1991 as Managing Director of Sony Broadcast & Communications UK, a division of Sony serving the UK broadcast and professional audio and video markets. In November 1993, he became Regional Director North within Sony Broadcast & Professional's European operations, responsible for the Nordic region, the UK and Ireland. In 1996 he also assumed responsibility for Sales and Marketing in Western Europe becoming Deputy Managing Director.

Promoted to President of Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe in January 1998, Flint also led the team that was responsible for the marketing and support of products and services to Sony's Professional Solutions and Customers business division in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Three years later he was appointed to the Board of Sony Europe and to the post of Managing Director of Sony United Kingdom Limited.

In July 2002 Flint became President of Sony Business Europe and assumed responsibility for two additional Sony businesses: Recording Media & Energy and Semiconductor & Electronic Solutions. In November 2003 he was appointed to his current role of President of European Marketing at Sony Europe.

Prior to joining Sony, Flint held a series of marketing and product development roles in the fields of computing and telecommunications, firstly at ICL and then at STC following the merger of the two companies.

Gary A. Cohen: General Manager, Pervasive Computing, IBM Application & Integration Middleware Division
As general manager of IBM's pervasive computing division, Gary Cohen leads IBM's initiatives to extend e-business to a new generation of devices, making businesses more responsive as they enter the era of e-business On Demand. Pervasive Computing is a unit of IBM's Application & Integration Middleware Division and a cross-IBM initiative, including wireless, portals, voice, embedded software and hardware technologies, as the business environment expands to include billions of new connected and programmable devices. Mr. Cohen joined IBM in 1978 as a systems engineer in the New York Retail branch and has held numerous positions since then. Most recently, he was vice president, strategy, as the principal architect of IBM's business growth strategies and a member of the Chairman's Senior Leadership Team. Other senior leadership roles have included General Manager, IBM Global Telecommunications Industry, Vice President of IBM's Communications Sector, Asia Pacific, Vice President of the IBM Consulting Group and Vice President of Marketing of the Internet Division. Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and psychology from Union College and a Masters of Business Administration in finance from New York University.

Rene Schuster: Global Marketing Director, Vodafone Group Services Limited
Rene Schuster is Global Marketing Director for the Vodafone Group where he is responsible for sales, marketing, product and services for all Business Segments/Markets, which today represents more than 40% of Vodafone Revenue world wide.

Previously Schuster was Senior Vice President of Hewlett-Packard Company and provided services for IT technologies, including mission-critical infrastructure, application services, and extended enterprise services. His division was responsible for the growth engine of HP by solving customer business and technical problems leveraging solutions, services and products across HP and partners.

Formerly, Schuster joined Compaq in July 2000 as the Chief Executive of Compaq UK and Ireland (the second-largest Compaq subsidiary after North America) and Vice President of Compaq Computer Corporation. His responsibilities encompassed all operations, including products, services, sales and marketing, where he implemented a major change program that resulted in substantial revenue growth, profitability and an increase in customer satisfaction.

Schuster joined Compaq from KPMG Management Consulting, where he served as Senior Partner / Chief Operating Officer in the Europe. Middle East and Africa region.

Schuster was born in New York and holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering, as well as a master's degree in business administration.

Kevin Gillan: Group Director of Business Development, Carphone Warehouse
Kevin Gillan, Group Director of Business Development, The Carphone Warehouse. Joined May 2004 and currently areas of development include mobile entertainment and content and MVNO's. Prior to joining CPW Kevin worked at Accenture for 8 years in retail strategy, clients included Best Buy, Boots, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, BP. Prior to that Kevin worked for Reebok International for 6 years in global marketing. Studied business administration at Aston University and Kellogg Northwestern, Chicago. Married with three children living in London.
