Orkut Mobile App Launched by Google

Google's incredibly popular social network, Orkut, is now available through a java based smartphone client, which is optimised for S60 phones. Orkut has a presence with as much, if not more, impact than Facebook or MySpace in both Brazil and India and providing greater access to the network.

The Google blog points out the major features of this new client:

It's a free application, much like Google Maps and Gmail on the mobile; and the installation method is a matter of pointing your smartphone's web browser to m.google.com/orkut.

Comment: I got it installed on my 5800. Its not touch optimized. Though you can get rid of the on screen navigation keys, it doesn't recognize a touch on every control.

Also, it looks very unstable and freezes frequently.

Comment: Installed on N73. Quite a clunky application. Gives the feel of an early beta rather than a full release. But still nice that google finally came out with an orkut app.
