Opera 9.5 with widgets for UIQ 3
Thanks to ares for the heads-up that Opera Software have been busy, releasing its Opera 9.5 web browser for UIQ 3 with widget support today. For technical reasons (lack of RAM?), it's only compatible with the SonyEricsson P1, W960, G700 and G900. Opera has also updated people on progress towards v9.5 for S60 - more on this in the weeks to come.

Comment: Opera 9.5 for Symbian is like mermaids - beautiful, mythical and much rumoured, but not actually real, and unlikely ever to be.
If somehow they ever produce such a thing, Nokia Browser will by then be so far in advance (and built in) that it simply won't be worth it. The old version of Opera Mobile is so inferior as to be not worth using. Opera Mini is a java app, good, but not in the same league.
Opera on Symbian = fail, which is a big fail considering it's by far the biggest smartphone platform.
Heck, we'll see Firefox on Symbian before Opera 9.5.

Comment: I don't think its impossible for Opera 9.5 and Nokia OSS Webkit to survive on the same platform. The desktop supported built in IE, plus Firefox, Opera, Safari, Maxthon, and Avant without any of the players ever failing. Opera has a desktop user base they can carry over to mobiles. Users want choice, and different browsers will always be around. Skyfire is doing ok on S60 already, and isn't much beyond the default browser.

Comment: LOL...Opera 9.5 is already running on Symbian, but only UIQ3, so far, and for a beta, its AMAZING
I donīt doubt a second the s60 v3 version will folow soon (the widgets app is already there), and also the s60 v5 version (they can port the UIQ3 version and it will adapt fine to other touch symbian OS)

Ha, ha, very funny, this posting as a response to an article that announces exactly that - the availability of Opera 9.5 on Symbian/UIQ3.
Some people are on such a high level of expertise, it hurts.

Comment: The browsing experience on this widget manager is great. I can bet Opera Mobile 9.5 is going to be one hell of a killer browser. See the screenshots here
