All About Symbian Mini Pub Meet

On monday it's time for the Evening with S60 London. However as things do not kick off until 7:30pm and as the AAS team are in town we thought we would hold an informal get together before the event in a local pub. So from 5:30pm or so we'll be in the Windmill pub which is just a few minutes away from the Nokia Flagship Store.

This is not a formal All About Symbian Pub Meet (sorry no speeches from Ewan or prize give aways); we'll be going onwards to the Evening with S60 at around 7:30. However we would be happy to meet anyone who wants to come along for a chat!

We're not going to be in any specific area or room so look around for likely candidates (phones may feature predominantly).

How to find the Windmill Pub

The Windmill is just a few minutes away from the Nokia Flagship Store. The nearest Tube stations are Picadilly Circus or Oxford Circus.

Address: 6-8 Mill Street, W1S 2AT (just off Regent Street).

Comment: I'd love to be there, but I suspect I'll still be in Berlin at 5.30.

Hopefully I'll get to join you guys later at Nokia's event though :)

Comment: Well i wish i could be there but i just found out that i had to register to get in, it totally slipped my mind in the end and i doubt i'd be let in the door without a ticket.
its a shame really, since i was at the the last one and i enjoyed meeting you all and getting a free gift. its only a 20 minute train ride from work too.

anyways, have fun at it and take lots of pics of the beautiful 5800 xm.

Comment: I don't normally come along to things like this because I have a lot less geek time these days. But this one really grabbed my interest and as it's no more than a stone's throw from work I'll be there (I did receive my text invite BTW, thanks).

So I'll see you at the Windmill for a jar or two - do I have to wear my n96 in my lapel or something?

Comment: Did you guys receive your tickets via sms? All I got yesterday was " You will soon receive your personal mobile ticket...etc" with a checkcode and that's it. The ticket didn't follow...

Comment: rottie - don't worry others have had problems, there'll also be a list on the door

andrew - look forward to seeing you shortly

Comment: Just came back from the Nokia event.

For all of you that missed it : the food and drinks were nice, the hostesses were even nicer...;)

I had a first oportunity to spend some time with the N85 and I'm really dissapointed...The keypad is soooo bad. So much worse than the N95 in terms of quality and usability. And the phone seemed to be very slow when navigating through menus. Much slower than my N95 with not the latest firmware. The screen is of course better than all non-OLED ones, but still it's not a massive difference.

But my biggest dissapointment is that nobody wanted to sell me one of the 5800's they had to show. That phone is gonna be massive, the touch screen operation brings a fresh breeze to a symbian world. I don't know about you but after few years with symbian devices I'm just bored with the menus, the way they look, operate etc. And with 5800 it's so different while still being very friendly for long time S60 users.
The screen is amazing with it's size and resolution, full screen QWERTY keyboard is very usable.

Steve, thank you for the info about the event, I wanted to come and say hi but you were busy every time I was passing you:cool:.

andrewgrill - it was nice chatting to you about the E-series evolutions

Comment: Thanks everyone who came along. Great seeing you and pub was a nice place to keep dry.
