Rafe goes hands-on with the Nokia N97 mini and X6
Courtesy of camcorder entrepreneur Ewan Macleod, we have our very own Rafe Blandford going over the Nokia N97 mini and X6 in detail in a (thankfully) quiet room at Nokia World 2009. And, in similar vein, though powered by Maemo 5, we have Rafe giving the Nokia N900 exactly the same detailed treatment. Enjoy.

I agree, mostly. I will wait a while for the mini to be out there, try a few out, find out what the vices are and let the price drop a bit. Currently, there is nothing to touch the 5800 and I see the mini as a 5800 with a qwerty. I would be happy with the current N97, but find it a bit too bulky.

Comment: Question to the AAS guys...
I thought Nokia were phasing out the need for a separate power adaptor and just doing usb charging. It's on the n97 and other recent phones, so why is the x6 reverting back to needing a power adaptor? Surely it's in Nokia's interest to cut down on un-necessary accessories and reduce costs since they already provide a usb cable in the box.
I'm still gutted my 5800 doesn't support usb charging in this day and age! Oh, on a side note since the 5800 is my first Nokia, the power adaptor is a terrible design - it's so fragile, feels like it will snap off when plugged in! Please Nokia, just go exclusively to usb charging!
Cheers for the podcasts!

Comment: Firefox's ext. WOT gives the link in the second posting, a very poor rating/reputation?

Comment: Yes, Rafe *is* the stig of the Symbian world :)
I notice his comment about the Mini vs N900. I actually hope the N900 will be very popular, but would never guess it would approach the volumes of a S60 device. Even though his comment was exactly that - that the Mini will sell more than the N900 - I am impressed that he's even comparing the two :D
I'm loving my N900.
Actually, I was also much more impressed with the X6 than I had been previously. Seeing it being handled, it does seem much more interesting that I had imagined. One question: does the Comes With Music exclusivity mean that it is only available from operators? Could I, for example, buy one and the Comes With Music feature still work in China?

Comment: Rafe refers to Xenon flashes for all the phones, aren't they all dual LED(N97, N97 mini, X6 and N900)?
Also note comment from "Constantine" in http://www.mobileindustryreview.com/2009/09/hands-on-with-the-nokia-n97-mini-and-x6.html isn't that the guy from IntoMobile who used to work for Nokia who took photos with an early N86 which AAS published which Nokia didn't like so they kicked him out? Nokia fanboy turns bitter and twisted Nokia hateboy ;)

Comment: Yes, Rafe meant LED, of course. Bad Rafe! 8-)

Comment: Nokia need to get the weight of the x6 down a bit and make the device E55 thin. Maybe the x6 mini will do this
